Bay Bryan

The Constitutional, 51 Town Street, Farsley, Leeds, LS28 5HX

£11 + Booking Fee. Doors 7pm. Show 8pm.

Manchester-based singer, songwriter and multidisciplinary artist Bay Bryan originally hails from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado (USA). Their exquisite ability to take us on a journey through song reminds of artists like Laura Marling, Rufus Wainwright and Anaïs Mitchell. In performance, Bay captivates their audience, drawing from over 10 years of experience as an actor, drag queen and storyteller. “The Not So Ugly Sisters,” a theatre show that Bay co-composed songs for was named in The Guardian as one of the Top 25 shows to book for Christmas 2021. The short film “Egg Party,” with music scored by Bay, won the audience choice awards at both the Coven and Cinequest Film Festivals (2021).

‘The Meadow,’ Bay’s current project, is an alternative/indie-folk concept album ultimately about the bitter-sweet process of transitioning from one life-chapter into the next. Two singles have been released from the project so far and have both received overwhelmingly positive responses, with Indie Top 39 even naming “Sticky Shadows” the song of 2021.

Walter Strauss kicks global arse … encompasses Western classical and jazz-values, plus rootsy African and Americana with bewildering aplomb.

This California guitar wizard's songs are full of the groove and fire of an African dance party, the dynamics and textures of a string orchestra, and the back-porch soul of American roots music. A composer and songwriter in diverse genres, he also translates music from other instruments to the guitar, resulting in mind-bending guitar renditions of the multi-layered music of the kora (a 21-stringed West African harp) that kora legend Toumani Diabate calls “inspirational”, and music of other far-flung instruments of the world.

£12 + Booking Fee. Doors 7pm. Show 8pm.

One shop. One century. One heck of a lot of stories!

A funny, uplifting two-hander about a little shop in a little town and the fierce, larger-than-life women who pass through it from 1919 to the present day. Mixing storytelling with comedy, songs and poetry, Ruth Cockburn and Keith Carter take you through 100 years of retail therapy and the lives of women from every decade.

The show is inspired by Ethel Carnie Holdsworth, a writer who worked in the Lancashire mills in the early part of the last century. She is cited as the first working class, female novelist in the UK and her words are used throughout the play.

Created by Constitutional favourites Black Liver, who are regulars at our comedy nights, as well as bringing previous shows "Support Your Local Library!" and "Love Letters From Blackpool".

Billy Salisbury aka The Undercover Hippy has been performing at festivals since 2008, working his way up from being a solo singer-songwriter playing in small marquee stages, to now having a full band of incredible musicians and playing main-stages at some of the UK’s best independent festivals. The band have been regulars at Glastonbury, Boomtown, Electric Picnic , Eden Festival in Scotland and Beautiful Days, plus many more around the UK and Europe.

The music is best described as politically driven acoustic roots reggae folk-hop, with feel good vibes and a sly sense of humour. The live show is high energy, interactive, and always leaves the crowd begging for more. Devoted fans travel the length of the UK for shows, audibly singing along with every chorus.
